Explore our collection of rare Orthodox icons and unusual sacred images from the rich history of Eastern Christian iconography. Here you can discover hard-to-find icons of Jesus Christ, the Mother of God (Theotokos), saints and angels, as well as complex theological compositions and lesser-known Christian subjects rarely found in ordinary religious shops.

What Makes an Orthodox Icon Rare?

Some Orthodox icons are known throughout the Christian world, while others survive in only a small number of historic examples. An icon may be considered rare because it depicts a little-known saint, an unusual image of Christ or the Theotokos, a complex theological subject, or an iconographic tradition associated with a particular monastery, region, or period of history.

Our collection brings together remarkable examples from Russian, Byzantine, Greek, and other Eastern Christian traditions. We are especially interested in preserving unusual iconography and finding historic images of saints whose icons can be surprisingly difficult to find today.

Rare Saints and Unusual Christian Iconography

Alongside rare saints, this collection includes lesser-known representations of Christ and the Theotokos, angels, biblical events, and theological subjects that reveal the extraordinary diversity of Orthodox sacred art.

Each icon is carefully reproduced on a prepared wooden panel and hand-finished with natural beeswax in our family workshop in Portugal.

If you are searching for a particular saint or sacred image that you cannot find in our collection, we can also create a custom icon from a suitable historic image.
