The wooden icon of the Holy Archangel Michael - the Terrible Commander of the heavenly Forces

Archangel Michael means "Who is God," and is the great leader of the Heavenly Angelic Forces. He is one of the most revered Archangels in Christianity, the head of the holy host of Angels and Archangels. He carries a fiery saber, his mission is to defend all of God's laws, and defeat the enemies of Christ.

On horseback, Michael the Archangel is represented as the archangel of the Heavenly Forces, dressed in military armor and riding a red horse. In one hand He triumphantly holds the Gospel, with the other hand He holds an eight-pointed cross-a spear with which He throws Satan into a hyena, overthrowing the devil. A rainbow is thrown between the Archangel's hands. The rainbow (sphere) is a symbol of foresight transmitted to the Archangel by God. In the upper corner of the icon, in the heavenly segment, the Savior Emmanuel is depicted in front of the high throne.

Archangel Michael is the head of the heavenly host, is considered the patron saint of warriors, is the defender of all Christians from visible and invisible enemies and evil spirits. They turn to Him for help in all troubles, sorrows, needs, and ask for healing. They pray to Him at the entrance to a new house and at the consecration of the house, asking for salvation from thieves and natural disasters.
