Wooden Icon "The First Steps of Jesus Christ"

This is a rare icon where the Baby Jesus is not in the arms of the Mother of God, but, walking towards her, reaches out to the Most Pure One, stretching out His hands to Her and turning his gaze, and the Mother of God bends towards Christ with great love. According to legend, at one of the halts during the flight of the Holy Family to Egypt, the Infant God took his first steps on earth - towards his Mother. This moment is captured in the icon. They say that children love it very much... And symbolically it talks about the union of the Divine and the human.

The icon is located in the monastery of St. Gerasimos of Jordan and is very revered in the Holy Land. The Monastery of St. Gerasimos was founded in the 5th century in the south of the Jordan Valley, near the confluence of the Jordan River and the Dead Sea. Where the Holy Family stopped on the way to Egypt, Gerasim, who came to the Holy Land to worship and settled here as a hermit, founded it.

The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
