Wooden Icon of the Virgin Mary Theotokos Feodorovskaya

The Feodorovskaya Icon of the Mother of God, also known as Our Lady of Saint Theodore and the Black Virgin Mary of Russia, is the patron icon of the Romanov family. It is one of the most venerated icons in the Upper Volga region.

This is an historical icon painted on the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty.

In the upper left and right corners inside the round medallions is the standard Greek abbreviation of Our Lady, and in the lower left corner inside the circle is the date (in Church Slavonic) 1613 and in the lower right corner the date 1913, representing the dates corresponding to the Romanov tercentenary. On the oval ribbon surrounding the Mother of God, the “Royal Psalm”, Psalm 20, is inscribed.

On the reverse side of the original is the inscription: “To His Eminence Anatoly, Bishop of Tomsk and Altai, in commemoration of his arrival in the Tomsk diocese, August 22, 1914 from Joseph Andreevich Pankrushev.”

Joseph Pankrushev was the son of the famous Mstera icon painter Ivan Andreevich Panrushev, and headed an icon painting workshop in Tomsk.

The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with soil by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.

Our icons are made by Orthodox craftsmen. You can read more about the technology here: https://iconsofsaints.com/pages/how-is-the-icon-made

We hope it will be a good gift for you and your loved ones.
