The original icon was created in the 19th century in the renowned icon-painting workshops of Palekh and is now preserved in a private collection.

The Vladimir icon belongs to the ancient iconographic type known as Eleusa (“Tenderness”). The Christ Child presses His cheek against His Mother’s face in a gesture of profound intimacy and love. This touching embrace reveals not only maternal affection, but the deep mystery of the Incarnation — God drawing near to humanity in compassion and humility.

A distinctive feature of this particular icon is the crown placed above the halo of the Mother of God, symbolizing her royal dignity as Queen of Heaven and her special intercession for all who turn to her in prayer.
