Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, is revered throughout the world for his mercy, compassion, and countless miracles. He is a swift intercessor in hardships, a protector of travelers, children, families, and all who seek help with sincere prayer.
Saint Macarius of Kalyazin, a venerable Russian ascetic and wonderworker, represents humility, repentance, and deep monastic devotion. His life of prayer and self-denial teaches believers the path of inner transformation and closeness to God.
The Guardian Angel, standing alongside the saints, reminds every Christian of God’s constant protection and guidance, calling the soul toward righteousness and spiritual vigilance.
At the center and summit of the composition is the holy image of Christ “Mandylion (Ubrus)”, emphasizing that all sanctity, strength, and intercession flow from Christ Himself. The original icon was painted in the 19th century by the icon painter Dikarev. It is in a private collection.
