Saint Righteous Youth Artemius of Verkola. Wooden orthodox icon.
Saint Artemy Verkholsky was born in 1532 in the village of Verkola in the Dvina region (Arkhangelsk region, Russia), to a pious peasant family. Raised in the fear of God and Christian piety, Saint Artemy was distinguished by his meekness, obedience and diligence even in childhood. At the age of 12, while working in the field, he was killed by lightning.
Superstitious fellow villagers left the body of blessed Artemy, as having died a sudden death, unburied and placed it in the forest, on top of the ground, covering it with brushwood and birch bark. It lay there, forgotten by everyone, for 32 years. But in 1577, the relics of Saint Artemy were miraculously found incorrupt and became famous for many miracles and healings of diseases. Thus, during the malignant fever that spread in the Dvina region, the Verkola peasant Kallinik took birch bark from the coffin of St. Artemy, hung it on the cross on the chest of his dying son, and he was healed.
Later, icons of the righteous Artemy were painted. Shavings remained from the boards on which they were painted. From them, the sick also received healing from their ailments. A monastery was founded at the place where the relics of the holy youth were found, where his holy relics were placed.
The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
You can buy the icon in three sizes:
