As Metropolitan, Saint Philip boldly confronted the injustices of Ivan the Terrible’s Oprichnina, calling the tsar to repentance and defending the innocent. For his courage, he suffered martyrdom, becoming a shining example of pastoral love, truth, and moral strength. His holy relics became a source of consolation and miracles for believers throughout the centuries.
