This handmade wooden icon represents one of the most revered images of the Theotokos in ancient Russian Orthodoxy — the “Great Panagia” or “Yaroslavl Oranta.” Based on a 12th–13th century miraculous image originally housed in the Transfiguration Cathedral of Yaroslavl, this icon embodies the eternal prayer and protection of the Virgin Mary.
