Icon of the Mother of God of the Sign of the Sea Kursk "Rescuing at Sea" with St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and Apostle Andrew the First-Called.
In the center is the Blessed Virgin Mary; Along the edges are St. Nicholas the Pleasant and Apostle Andrew the First-Called, and in the lower part, two angels lower a wreath into the depths of the sea, 118 candles flicker at the bottom of the water (submariners of the crew of the nuclear submarine "Kursk" from the Northern Fleet of Russia who died in the disaster of the tragic event 12 August 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Barents Sea).
The icon of Yaroslavl masters “Rescuing at Sea” was painted in Yaroslavl on the 40th day after the sinking of the nuclear-powered icebreaker “Kursk” in memory of the dead submariners.
The icon is located in the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker on the territory of the 7th Division of the Nuclear Northern Fleet on the shore of Ara-Guba, dedicated to submariners.
The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
