Wooden Icon of the Mother of God of Dalmatia

The legend about the Dalmatian Icon connects its appearance in the monastery with its founder, the Venerable Dalmatian, who in 1644 settled in a cave at the confluence of the Techa River and the Iset River and brought with him the icon of the Dormition of the Mother of God from the Nevyansk Monastery, where he took monastic vows. In 1651, the monastery that formed around Dalmata’s cell was burned by the army of the Siberian prince Devlet-Girey, but the icon, according to legend, was not damaged by the fire.

The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
