The history of the icon is connected with the memory of the holy Grand Duke Igor from the Olgovich family, in baptism George, in monasticism Gabriel, who was killed in Kyiv in 1147.
The rebels burst into the church during the Divine Liturgy, grabbed Igor, who was praying before the icon of the Mother of God, and dragged him to death. This is how the innocent martyr, holy Prince Igor, died. The icon, in front of which the saint prayed before his terrible death, has since become known as Igor’s.
The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
