Wooden Icon of the holy martyr Agnia

The Holy Martyr Agnia, a 3rd century Roman Christian, dedicated herself to God from a young age. Refusing to marry Symphronium's wealthy chief, the ruler became incensed and attempted to shame Agnia by sending her to a den of harlots. God mercifully intervened, however, endowing her with thick hair and an otherworldly light that blinded anyone who approached. The ruler's son fell dead when he touched her, but she brought him back to life with her fervent prayer. Her miraculous resurrection caused 160 pagans to embrace Christianity, drawing the scorn of their pagan priests. Despite torture in a fiery trial, Agnia endured, remaining in prayer as her throat was pierced by a sword. She was laid to rest by her parents near Rome and her remains now rest in the Catacombs of St. Agnes in Rome along Via Nomentana. Miracles have been reported at her grave to this day.

The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with soil by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
