Icon of the Epiphany (Baptism of the Lord Jesus Christ)
In the center of the composition is Jesus Christ standing in the waters of the Jordan. The Holy Spirit descends from heaven on the Savior in the form of a dove. On the bank on the left is John the Baptist, and on the right are four angels with covered hands. In the waters of the Jordan, the figures of an old man and a young man swimming on dolphins are visible - allegories of two rivers, Jor and Dan.
According to the Gospel, at the moment of the Savior’s baptism, the heavens opened and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in the form of a dove, and the voice of God the Father testified about the Son: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” The Feast of Epiphany is also called Epiphany, since at the baptism of Jesus Christ the appearance of all three persons of the Holy Trinity occurred.
The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
