Wooden Icon of the Entombment of Jesus Christ (Antimins)
The plot of the icon goes back to the events of Holy Week (Matt. 27:57-61; Mark 15:46-47; Luke 23:53; John 19:39-42). In the lower part of the composition the Holy Sepulcher is depicted, in it, in white shrouds, is the body of Christ. The Mother of God (to the face of Christ), John the Theologian, Joseph of Arimathea fall at the tomb; other followers of Christ are usually located behind the tomb with bowed heads and with gestures expressing grief. in the background: a cross, on either side of it are flying angels.
The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
