This Orthodox icon of Saint Anthony the Great of Egypt, faithfully reproduced from a 17th-century original, honors one of the greatest ascetics and spiritual fathers of Christianity. Saint Anthony is revered as the founder of Christian monasticism and a living model of repentance, humility, and unwavering devotion to God.

Born around 251 into a wealthy Christian family in Egypt, Anthony’s life was radically transformed after the death of his parents. Hearing the words of the Gospel, he responded with complete obedience—selling all his possessions, giving to the poor, and entrusting his sister to the care of faithful women. Thus began his path of total dedication to God.

The icon board is prepared by hand, and the back side is finished manually with a brush.
