When the Savior walked to Calvary, to his death and carried his cross, righteous Veronica came up to Christ to wipe the sweat and blood from his face - she handed the Lord her handkerchief. When Jesus Christ gave it back to her, the Face of the Savior was displayed on the scarf. Veronica's Plath - that's the name of this shrine - is one of the most important in the Christian world. Now Veronica's Plath is kept in the Vatican, in St. Peter's Basilica.
