Born into a noble Christian family, Saint Lucy dedicated her life to Christ and vowed to preserve her virginity. After the death of her father, her mother sought to arrange a marriage for her, but Lucy gave her inheritance to the poor instead. Betrayed for her Christian faith, she was brought before the authorities and ordered to sacrifice to pagan gods. Saint Lucy fearlessly refused, confessing Christ as her only Lord.
Despite severe tortures, she remained unshaken. According to tradition, she could not be moved by force, and the fire prepared for her execution did not harm her. She finally received the crown of martyrdom around 304 AD, sealing her witness with her blood.
