Saint Myron, Bishop of Crete, a miracle worker, was a family man in his youth and worked as a farmer. He was famous for his kindness and helped everyone who turned to him for help. Once, when he caught thieves in his threshing floor, Saint Myron himself helped them lift the sacks of grain onto their shoulders. With his generosity, the saint shamed the thieves so much that they subsequently began to lead an honest life. The Cretans, who deeply respected the saint, asked him to accept the rank of priest in his native city of Ravkia, and then elected him Bishop of Crete. Wisely leading his flock, Saint Myron received the gift of miracles from the Lord. During the flood of the Triton River, the saint stopped its flow and crossed it as if on dry land, and then sent a man with his staff to the river with a command for the water to resume its flow. Saint Myron departed to God at the age of one hundred, around the year 350.
