Wooden Icon of the Holy Archangel Michael
This sacred icon depicts the Holy Archangel Michael, the heavenly commander and protector of the Church of Christ. His name means “Who is like God” — a declaration of unwavering faith and victory over evil.
🕊️ The original icon was painted in the 15th century by the great Russian iconographer Andrei Rublev and belongs to the famous Zvenigorod Deesis tier, together with the images of Christ the Savior and the Apostle Paul. These icons once adorned the Assumption Cathedral in Zvenigorod and today are preserved in the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, considered masterpieces of ancient Russian iconography.
In this image, Archangel Michael is portrayed with both majesty and gentleness. His radiant face reflects heavenly peace, while the staff in his hand symbolizes divine authority and spiritual protection.
