Saint Lazarus, who lived in Bethany, near Jerusalem, was the brother of Martha and Mary. He was a close friend of Jesus Christ, who resurrected him after four days in the tomb. This miracle led many Jews to believe in Christ, which made the priests want Lazarus dead. However, he continued his life for another three decades as the bishop of the island of Cyprus, actively spreading the Christian faith, before he died in peace.
The relics of Saint Bishop Lazarus were discovered in the city of Kition. On the marble urn with his remains was the inscription "Lazarus of the Four Days, Friend of Christ." By order of the Byzantine Emperor Leo VI the Wise in 898, the relics of Lazarus were moved to the capital of the empire, where they were placed in the Church of Saint Lazarus.
The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
