The icon “Savior of the Golden Hair” received its name due to the special image of Christ’s hair. Traditionally, they are written with brown lines on a gold base, making them appear completely golden.
The iconography of the “Golden Hair of the Savior” goes back to the type of Christ Chalki icons, in which the Savior is depicted without a halo against the background of a cross. This is one of the oldest Byzantine images, a symbol of Constantinople. According to legend, such an image was located above the copper gates of the Constantinople Palace. “Gate of Halki” is translated from Greek as “copper gate”.
The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
