Wooden Icon of the Savior "Jesus Christ in Prison"
The icon “Jesus Christ in Prison” depicts the Savior after being brutally beaten and mocked by Roman soldiers.
According to the gospel story, when Pontius Pilate brought Jesus out to the people for the first time, the crowd began to demand His execution. After this, Christ was beaten by the procurator’s soldiers and dressed in a jester’s outfit. They dressed him in a scarlet cloak, placed a crown of thorns on his head as a mocking crown, and placed a simple branch in his right hand, passing it off as a scepter as a sign of royal power. After which they continued their mockery, kneeling, bowing and exclaiming: Hail, King of the Jews! And then they spat on Him and beat Him again.
The icon “Jesus Christ in Prison” reminds a person that one must not become embittered, lose self-control and fortitude, even when the body is weak.
The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
