Wooden Icon of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Nativity of our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary is celebrated by the Church as a day of universal joy. On this bright day, at the turn of the Old and New Testaments, the Most Blessed Virgin Mary was born, destined from the ages by Divine Providence to serve the mystery of the incarnation of God the Word - to appear as the Mother of the Savior of the world, our Lord Jesus Christ.
The plot unfolds against the backdrop of complex architectural staffing. Under an arch with Ionic columns, Anna is depicted with her maids. Below is the scene of Mary's Ablution. In the upper corners of the icon are the figures of Joachim and Anna, who receive the news from the angels about the birth of a child. In the center is a half-figure of the Lord of Hosts in the clouds. In the lower left corner there is a scene of the meeting of Joachim and Anna at the Golden Gate, in the right – Saint Joachim.
The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
You can buy the icon in three sizes:
- 13 х 9 centimeters (5,1 x 3,5 inches)
- 19 х 14 centimeters (7,5 x 5,5 inches)
- 26 х 19 centimeters (10,2 x 7,5 inches)
Our icons are made by Orthodox craftsmen. You can read more about the technology here.
We hope it will be a good gift for you and your loved ones.
