Wooden Icon of the Mother of God of Chernigov-Gethsemane
The Chernigov-Gethsemane Icon of the Mother of God is a copy of the famous Chernigov-Ilya Icon of the Mother of God, which was located in the Trinity Ilya Monastery near Chernigov, on Boldina Mountain, where in the 11th century. The Monk Anthony of Pechersk labored for some time.
In the icon, the Mother of God points to Jesus with her gaze and body position, reminding Christians that a Judge has come to the world, whose commandments must be followed in order to achieve the Kingdom of Heaven.
