Wooden Icon of the Holy Martyr Alexandra of Rome, Empress of Nicomedia

Saint Alexandra, wife of Emperor Diocletian, was a secret Christian. Seeing the firmness of Saint George’s faith during his torment, she decided to openly testify to her faith in Jesus Christ. She went to the place where St. was tortured. George, fell at the feet of the great martyr and declared herself a Christian in front of everyone.

The embittered Diocletian sentenced the queen to death. Saint Alexandra courageously accepted this sentence and meekly went to the place of execution, prayerfully turning her gaze to heaven. On the way, she, tired, asked the soldiers to let her rest a little. Leaning against the wall of one building, she died quietly. Her peaceful death followed on April 21, 303. Her memory is celebrated simultaneously with the Great Martyr George.

The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
