Saint Alevtina, also known as Valentina, lived in Egypt in the early fourth century, during one of the most brutal periods of persecution against the Christian Church under the Roman emperor Maximian. Together with her sister in faith, Chionia, and the holy martyr Paul, she was seized and brought to Caesarea in Palestine, where the authorities demanded that the Christians renounce their faith and offer sacrifice to the pagan gods.

Though threatened with torment and death, the three remained steadfast, openly confessing Christ before their persecutors. Their courage did not waver even as the sentence was pronounced: in the year 308, Paul was beheaded, while Alevtina and Chionia were condemned to die by fire. Their martyrdom stands as a testimony of unshaken faith carried to its final measure — a willingness to surrender earthly life rather than betray the truth of the Gospel.

Saint Alevtina is venerated as a model of courage, fidelity, and steadfast confession in the face of suffering. She is remembered as an intercessor for those who seek strength to hold fast to their faith during trials, and for those in need of boldness and inner resolve when confronted with fear or adversity.

Her commemoration in the Orthodox Church is kept on July 29 (July 16, Old Style), alongside the Martyrs Paul and Chionia.
