This Orthodox icon depicts St. John the Theologian, one of the Twelve Apostles and the beloved disciple of Christ. He is the author of the Gospel of John, the Book of Revelation, and three Epistles, which reveal the depth of his spiritual vision and love.

In this icon, John is shown with an angel at his shoulder—a traditional symbol of divine inspiration. The angel represents the heavenly voice guiding him in the writing of the Gospel and Revelation, reminding the faithful that his words are not merely human but revealed by God.

St. John is also called the “Apostle of Love”, as his writings emphasize love as the foundation of Christian life. His image invites believers to prayer, reflection, and the pursuit of spiritual wisdom.

The original icon, painted in the early 20th century, is preserved in the State Museum of Palekh Art, a center known for its spiritual and artistic heritage.

The image is created using direct artistic multi-layer printing with mineral pigments, then protected with beeswax for durability.

The icon board is prepared by hand, and the back side is finished manually with a brush.

This method allows us to achieve museum-quality reproduction, which is only possible using professional equipment.
