Wooden Icon of Saints Adrian and Natalia of Nicomedia
This is the Orthodox icon of Saint Natalia of Nicomedia commemorated on August 26. She was married to Saint Adrian in her youth who chose to die rather than renounce his faith. As Christians were denounced and brought to trial, twenty-three were captured in a cave near Nicomedia. Despite torture and urging to worship idols, the group remained steadfast in their faith. Adrian declared himself a Christian threatening his own life and the emperor placed him in prison. St Natalia, who had secretly been a Christian, rejoiced and visited him in prison. She encouraged him saying worldly things are dust and ashes and only faith and good works displease God. After the hands and feet of the Saints were broken, the emperor wanted to marry Natalia. She hid away in Byzantium and soon she died in peace.
The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
You can buy the icon in three sizes:
- 13 х 10 centimeters (5,1 x 3,9 inches)
- 19 х 15 centimeters (7,5 x 5,9 inches)
- 26 х 20 centimeters (10,2 x 7,9 inches)
