This Orthodox icon depicts Saint Righteous Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. The size of the icon is 14x30 cm (5.5x11.8 inches). Saint Elizabeth was a pious woman and the wife of the priest Zechariah. Despite her old age, she miraculously conceived John the Baptist. She was related to the Virgin Mary and played a crucial role in biblical history.
Brief Life of Saint Elizabeth: Saint Righteous Elizabeth was the wife of the priest Zechariah and the mother of John the Baptist. She was of the lineage of Aaron and lived a righteous life. Though she was barren and advanced in age, she miraculously conceived John after the angel Gabriel announced it to Zechariah. She was also a relative of the Virgin Mary and recognized the divine nature of Jesus when Mary visited her. During King Herod’s persecution, she fled with her infant son to protect him. Her faithfulness and righteousness made her a revered figure in Christianity.
The icon is made by printing on a wooden board (mdf). Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 1,6 cm. The board is covered with primer. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
