This Orthodox icon depicts Saint Prophet Zechariah the Righteous, the father of Saint John the Baptist. A priest in the Jerusalem Temple and a descendant of Aaron, Zechariah was visited by an angel who foretold the miraculous birth of his son, John, who would prepare the way for the Lord. Due to his initial disbelief, Zechariah was temporarily struck mute until the prophecy was fulfilled. Later, he was martyred for his faith under King Herod’s orders. The icon is made by printing on a wooden board (mdf). Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 1,6 cm. The board is covered with primer. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
