The iconography is based on the Gospel text about the preaching of the Savior in Galilee. The synagogue in Nazareth is depicted, in which Christ, who came there on the Sabbath day, reads from the book of the prophet Isaiah. The inhabitants of Nazareth listen to him (Luke, IV, 14-21).
