Saint Nika of Corinth (Nica), also known as Holy Martyr Victoria, is an early Christian saint who lived in the 3rd century. Although little has been preserved about her earthly life, the Church remembers her as a courageous disciple of Saint Quadratus, a revered elder who instructed believers in the Orthodox faith during the years of heavy persecution.

The story of Saint Nica unfolds in Corinth, a powerful and wealthy Greek city known for its vibrant culture—yet also for its moral decay and pagan practices. The Apostle Paul had preached there two centuries earlier, addressing the Corinthians with his two famous epistles. By the 3rd century, however, Christianity in Corinth faced severe oppression. The city’s ruler promoted pagan worship, and Christians were publicly tortured and executed for refusing to renounce Christ.

Amid this cruelty, Nica embraced the teachings of Christ with purity and steadfastness. Guided by Saint Quadratus, she lived according to the Gospel, keeping the commandments in her daily life and strengthening other believers through her example. When persecution intensified, she openly confessed her faith and accepted martyrdom rather than betray the Lord.
