Saint Julia of Carthage, the Martyr of Corsica. Wooden orthodox icon.
The Holy Martyr Julia was born in Carthage to a Christian family. As a girl, she was captured by the Persians. She was taken to Syria and sold into slavery. Fulfilling the Christian commandments, Saint Julia faithfully served her master, kept herself pure, observed fasts and prayed much to God.
No persuasion from her pagan master could persuade her to worship idolatry.
One day, the master set off with goods to Gaul and took Julia with him. When the ship docked at the island of Corsica along the way, the master decided to take part in a pagan festival, but Julia remained on the ship. The Corsicans gave the merchant and his companions wine to drink and, when they fell asleep, brought Julia from the ship. Saint Julia was not afraid to admit that she was a Christian, and the maddened pagans crucified her on the cross.
The Angel of the Lord informed the monks of the monastery located on a neighboring island about the death of the holy martyr. The monks took the body of the saint and buried it in the church of their monastery.
Around 763, the relics of the holy martyr Julia were transferred to the women's monastery in the city of Brescia.
The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
