Wooden Icon of the Mother of God "The Most Honest Cherub"

In the 14th century in Byzantium, symbolic icons appeared based on the texts of solemn liturgical chants in honor of the Mother of God. One of the Byzantine hymnographers owns a famous song in honor of the Mother of God, beginning with the words “It is worthy to eat...”. Icons based on the text of this hymn appeared in the 16th century. They were compositions, each plot of which illustrated a certain part of the chant.

Particularly striking is the image of the Mother of God “The Most Honest Cherub and the Most Glorious Seraphim”, presented as the Queen of Heaven surrounded by ethereal angelic forces.

The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with soil by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
