Wooden Icon of the Mother of God "More honorable than the Cherubim"

In the 14th century in Byzantium, symbolic icons appeared based on the texts of solemn liturgical chants in honor of the Mother of God. One of the Byzantine hymnographers owns a famous song in honor of the Mother of God, beginning with the words “It is worthy...”. Icons based on the text of this hymn appeared in the 16th century. They were compositions, each plot of which illustrated a certain part of the chant.

Particularly striking is the image of the Mother of God “The Most Honest Cherub and the Most Glorious Seraphim”, presented as the Queen of Heaven surrounded by ethereal angelic forces.

It is truly meet to bless thee, O Theotokos,
ever blessed, and most pure, and the Mother of our God.
More honorable than the cherubim,
and more glorious beyond compare than the seraphim.
Who without corruption gavest birth to God the Word.
True Theotokos, we magnify thee.

The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
