Wooden Icon of the Appearance of the Mother of God on the Amur in 1684
To commemorate the bringing of the Albazin Icon of the Mother of God "The Word Became Flesh" to the Amur in 1684, new images will be unveiled in churches. These images, created in the Amur icon-painting workshop, will depict significant moments in the life of the miraculous image. One of these moments is the "Appearance of the Mother of God in Albazino" which took place during the defense of the Albazin fort in 1684-1685. According to chronicles, the Mother of God appeared to the defenders of Russian lands as a White Woman on a white horse, defeating the Chinese Bogdykhan and saving the grain fields from destruction. The second image is titled "The Appearance of the Mother of God on the Amur," which occurred during the Boxer Uprising in the early 20th century. According to Chinese accounts, a White Wife with a Child in her arms protected the city of Blagoveshchensk
The icon is made by printing on a wooden board. Paints are mineral, do not fade with time. The thickness of the board is 2 cm. The board is covered with primer by hand. The image is covered with wax. Each icon has a metal mount on the back side so that you can hang the icon on the wall.
