Wonderworker Tikhon of Medyn and Kaluga. Wooden orthodox icon.

Saint Tikhon of Medyn was a revered ascetic and the founder of the Holy Dormition Monastery (Tikhonova Hermitage) in the Kaluga region. He established the hermitage, building its first wooden church in honor of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos. As the monastery’s first abbot, he guided the brethren with humility, meekness, and gentleness. Known for his mercy, he fed the hungry, gave drink to the thirsty, welcomed strangers, and defended the oppressed. Saint Tikhon was gifted with tears of repentance and embraced a life of silence.

According to ancient monastic tradition, he reposed in 1492 at an advanced age, having taken the Great Schema before his death. Venerated as a wonderworker, his relics are a source of grace and healing for the faithful.

Through his prayers, may God have mercy on us!
