Saint Timothy of Olympus (Symbolon)
A revered ascetic of the 8th–9th centuries, Saint Timothy lived as a hermit in the wilderness of Mount Olympus in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey). Known for his extreme austerity, unceasing prayer, and spiritual wisdom, he became a shining example of monastic perfection. His life in solitude ("Symbolon" refers to his hermitage) was marked by miraculous gifts, including discernment and healing.
Saint Tryphon (on the border)
A 3rd-century martyr from Phrygia, Saint Tryphon was a humble shepherd boy endowed with the grace of healing both people and animals. During Emperor Decius' persecution, he boldly confessed Christ and endured brutal tortures before being beheaded in 250. Venerated as a miracle-worker, he is particularly invoked for protection against pests and infirmities.
Saint Boniface (on the border)
A Roman martyr of the 4th century, Saint Boniface was initially a slave addicted to vice. Sent by his mistress to retrieve relics of martyrs, he witnessed Christians’ courage under torture, converted, and was himself martyred in Tarsus (c. 290). His dramatic repentance made him a patron of those struggling with addiction.
Through their prayers, may Christ our God have mercy on us!
(The composition highlights spiritual struggle—Timothy’s asceticism, Tryphon’s steadfast faith, and Boniface’s redemption—united in Christ’s victory.)
