Saints Joachim and Anna, the forefathers or parents of the Most Holy Theotokos, were surrounded with special love and veneration. According to a long tradition, they are prayed for the gift of children. Righteous Anna has great grace to heal from the disease of infertility.
Many icons are dedicated to the Feast of the Conception of St. Anne. As a rule, they depicted the joyful meeting of Saints Joachim and Anna after receiving the news from the Angel about their deliverance from childlessness.
